Detailed itinerary:
We will leave Tbilisi in the morning and head to a cozy family winery in Kakheti. Upon arrival, we will meet our host. We will then head to the vineyards to start collecting grapes. We will spend 3 hours collecting grapes.
The work is hard – grapes must be collected, and the juice must be squeezed out. In the past, winemakers and their families used to do that by stomping on the grapes with bare feet. Nowadays, machines are helping with processing the grapes. We will observe how the winemaker puts the future wine into qvevri to ferment.
Once we are done with our work a time will come for the celebration. We will join the family for a lovely homemade supra with plenty of traditional local dishes. Expect plenty of wine and toasts. Don’t expect to go back to Tbilisi sober.
